Sri. Narayana Rao Mushti

Sri. Narayana Rao Mushti is a globally recognized environmental engineer, researcher, and advocate with over 50 years of expertise in education, consultancy, and sustainability practices. He has served as a faculty member at premier institutions such as IIT Roorkee and NIT Durgapur and later became the Director of NITTTR Chennai. After retiring in 2001, he joined JNTU Hyderabad as an Emeritus Professor, where he continued his academic and research pursuits until 2011.

Sri. Narayana Rao completed his PhD in Environmental Engineering and post-doctoral research in New Zealand. His work bridges ancient Vedic wisdom with modern environmental science, focusing on areas like climate change, air pollution control, solid and hazardous waste management, and sustainable campus designs.

Key Contributions

During his tenure, Sri. Narayana Rao conducted annual Chandi Homas at Sri Devi Veda Vidyalayam (SVV), Srisailam, for a decade during Navaratri celebrations. After shifting to Bangalore, he continued his work on many other types of Homas in different parts of India. His studies demonstrated significant improvements in soil quality, water purity, and ecosystem health. He collaborated with the State Pollution Control Boards, National Laboratories and IITs to scientifically analyse the environmental benefits of Agnihotra Kriya, revealing measurable reductions in pollutants and enhanced nutrient cycles.

  2. Post-Doctoral Research in Environmental Sustainability (New Zealand).
  3. Author of 8 textbooks, 150 video lessons, 280 technical papers and 55 manuals.
  4. Supervised more than 300 Master's and PhD projects.
  5. Former Director, NITTTR Chennai and member of many technical committees of Govt. of India.
Awards and Recognitions
  1. Recipient of 40 prestigious awards, including 4 Gold Medals.
  2. Global recognition as “International Resource Person” for contributions to environmental education and training.
  3. Leadership in sustainable campus designs and climate resilience.

Sri. Narayana Rao continues to inspire researchers and environmentalists through his work, which integrates ancient Vedic practices with modern scientific principles to address global environmental challenges.
